About the Role
As a Front-End Developer, you will play a key role in designing and developing front-end components that integrate seamlessly with back-end systems, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and usability across devices and browsers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, TypeScript).
• Collaborate with UX designers, back-end developers, and product owners to translate user needs into functional digital services.
• Ensure alignment with client design system and service standards.
• Write clean, test-driven code and participate in peer code reviews.
• Integrate front-end components with APIs and back-end services.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Promote accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
• Mentor junior developers and encourage best practices across the team.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5+ years experience with the skills mentioned below.
Must be residing currently in or near Manchester.
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks and templating tools.
Proven ability to build accessible and high-performing interfaces.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
Understanding of service design and user-centred design principles.
Experience working on large-scale systems with high user volumes.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable:
Experience in government or public sector digital services.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessibility legislation.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerisation tools (e.g., Docker).
