About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) on Microsoft Fabric. This role requires strong technical leadership, excellent stakeholder coordination, and hands-on expertise in modern data engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Delivery: Set engineering standards, guide and mentor data engineers, review technical designs, remove delivery blockers, and ensure milestones are met across internal teams and suppliers.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and technology leads; provide clear progress updates, risks, and decisions to senior leadership and the SRO.
Technical Leadership: Own EDP architecture on Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse patterns, OneLake). Build ingestion and transformation pipelines (Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks). Define gold-layer modelling standards, optimize performance/cost, and ensure governance, lineage, and observability.
Multi-Source Integration: Oversee reliable ingestion, orchestration, testing, and release processes across diverse data sources.
Operational Readiness: Ensure documentation, run books, and non-functional requirements—including security, resilience, and performance—are fully met.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or lead engineer role.
Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse architectures, OneLake organization, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks.
Deep understanding of data modelling, especially gold-layer modelling and semantic model design.
Proven experience in building scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines.
Solid knowledge of data governance, RBAC/security, lineage, observability, and performance/cost optimisation.
Experience integrating multiple data sources using reliable orchestration, testing, and release practices.
Proficiency with SQL, Python, and modern data engineering tooling.
